Sustaining Desire
Ralph Ball & Maxine Naylor 2005

Maxine Naylor and Ralph Ball present a series of conceptual chairs from their 'Sustaining Desire' research project - the chair as cultural, ecological and visual narrative. The chairs are conceived as cultural excavations.

We expose and illuminate areas which are unregarded celebrating the archetypal rather than the individual. We have called this activity the 'Archaeology of the Invisible' and the 'Poetics of the Banal'. These explore the implicit generics of chair culture, typology and detail.
